The countdown to Christmas is on, and what better way to get in the spirit than entering our annual Dakota West Member Giveaway. Each branch is selecting its own special gift for our members to help brighten your holidays.
Are you feeling the stress of the holiday season? Our New England branch will be holding a drawing for a neck heater/massager. Whether you want to relax yourself, or share the warmth with someone on your gift list, you can register to win this plus a rain gauge for your home.
If you visit our New Town branch, you can register to win a traditional Silk Star Quilt. Our team in New Town is counting down the days until the drawing, so stop by today and sign up to win.
In addition to our annual giveaway, our Bowman branch is excited to participate in several of the community events including this Wednesday’s Festival of the Lights and Deck The Streets, plus Sunday’s Community Chorus Christmas Concert. This event has been part of our community for more than fifty years.
Stop into one of our branches to register. Even if you are just cruising through one of our drive-throughs, please ask for a Member Giveaway sign-up slip so you can join in the merriment no matter which branch you visit.
From our employees to your family, we wish you the merriest of Christmas seasons!
Meet Nathan Stoker
If you’re stopping by our Watford City branch, you may have the opportunity to visit with Nathan Stoker, our Member Service Manager, who leads a team of five assisting our members with branch services. Nathan might also sit with new members and guide you through the process of opening a new account. Nathan could be the face at the drive-through on Saturday mornings, or he might be behind the wheel of a McKenzie County Ambulance, or plowing your driveway in the winter.
Nathan worked in law enforcement, but decided to make a career change and last year received his bachelor’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University. “I wanted to take a new course with my life, and began working with Dakota West as a Member Service Representative.”
Moving to the Bakken region from Wyoming during high school, his family followed opportunities in the energy industry to settle in Watford City. Family time consists of camping and getting together with his parents, brother, sister, and including his extended family in southern Utah. He even journeyed to South Africa for two years on a mission trip.
One of the most common questions Nathan receives from members relates to the frequency with which he helps new members open accounts: what do you need to become a member? “That’s a two-fold answer,” he explains, “as there’s documents required to open any account, such as a proof of address, but many new members ask about what is required to belong to Dakota West Credit Union.”
Credit union membership varies, but for our members, it is simply a matter of living in or around one of our communities. Although Nathan admits he uses the question as a way to get to know new members and create lasting relationships with them.
If you’re interested in starting a relationship with Dakota West, stop by any of our branches and open a new account. You might find yourself sitting with Nathan and becoming a part of his Dakota West family.
COVID-19 Branch Services Update
As we shared by email earlier this week, everyone in our communities continues to have questions about how to prepare for the impact of COVID-19 in our everyday lives. At Dakota West, the work we have always done to serve our members remains true, but if you have specific concerns during this time, here are ways we can help with your daily needs.
Effective Thursday, March 19, all branches will be modifying our access to drive-through only, or by scheduled appointment to open an account, access a safe-deposit box, or meet with a loan officer. Grenora members, please utilize our secure lobby entry for pass-through transaction services.
Our online account access allows you to deposit checks, pay bills, and send money to family and friends using our new Pay A Friend feature.
Our new MY Cards mobile app delivers additional control over your Dakota West Mastercard® Debit and Credit cards from your phone.
We encourage you to keep connected to your Dakota West accounts through our online account services. If you have yet to create a logon to access your accounts, our Member Service Representatives can walk you through how to get started by phone. We want you to feel comfortable conducting the same transactions from your own home if you prefer not to visit a public space.
We designed How-To Guides for every service we offer online from registering for an online access to paying bills from your computer or phone, each with pictures and tips. All of these tools are available on the Member Services page of our website. These tools can be downloaded, printed, and will walk you through each step of the process.
Reach out to us if you have questions or require assistance. You may call 800.411.7590 or email us at dwcu@dakotawestcu.org. We also will be accepting direct messages through our Facebook page, but we remind you not to send personal information such as passwords and account details through this format.
We want you to continue to feel safe and secure. As the situation changes, you can always find the latest information about Dakota West branch access and resources on this News & Events page.
We value our members and we want you to know you can rely on us during this unusual and continually changing time providing the services you expect and the security you need.
Drive-Through Branches Closed
We want to remind our New Town, Washburn, and Watford City members that our drive-throughs will be closed on Saturday, October 26 as our staff gathers for our annual meeting and training. Thank you for planning accordingly and we look forward to seeing you soon.
